- Expect mistakes. Google says Gemini Apps may sometimes produce inaccurate information and can hallucinate, meaning it presents wrong information as fact.
- Look for the Sources button. In Gemini on a computer, a Sources button appears at the bottom of a response or inside it. Selecting it opens a side panel with links.
- Know the limit. Google says not all responses include related links. If there is no Sources button, Gemini gave no links for that response.
- Open the links and read them. Check that the page says what the answer says.
- Compare with a trusted source. Microsoft advises checking responses against trusted sources, because the same prompt can give different results. For prices, rules and deadlines, use the official page or the supplier.
- Take extra care with names of people. Google advises double-checking responses, especially about people.
- Report a wrong answer. In Gemini, click the thumbs down button and give feedback. Do not rely on the assistant for medical, legal or financial advice.
